
The Interrogation
You are the best detective in town. Your tasked with interrogatin a suspect of a Murder scene. The catch? He's totally nuts. Like crazy in the head nuts. Will you even be able to get any information out of him? Or is there something hiding that is much deeper than we can imagine? Your interrogation techniques matter with this sensitive of a suspect. Be careful, answer cautiously, and find that murderer!

DISCLAIMER: Accidentally bugged the text tweaking the scripts, and some of the ending sequences don't make sense right now lol. This will be fixed in a patch shortly.

The dialogue is so cool, and the pixelated graphics add a lot. The plot itself is also really engaging, it was like reading a detective novel!
I love that the visuals of your games are reminiscent to the GBA or SNES. I'm curious though, what inspired the setting?
The dialogue and concept are extremely creative and a detective-type game must have been hard to do! There's so many things to keep track of, especially the plot. I was really invested in playing.
I wasn't able to see some of the game due to the fullscreen button not working, but the dialogue I did read was really expressive, especially from the prisoner which makes sense. I think the say you portrayed the characters through just their text adds to the stakes of the game. You never know what'll happen from each question option!
Out of all the games presented, this is what I would definitely say fall close to being a visual novel through the use of character sprites, textboxes, and the use of backgrounds. Just as with MMM, I wonder how you pulled off the pixelated look of the game's images as it is a nice aesthetic.
i’m always a sucker for png -> pixel graphics, it’s such a simple but effective way to make a game feel like it has its own art style and places it in a fictional context really well
The interrogation definitely reminded me of the interrogation scene from Detroit Becomes Human. I liked how the player not only has the choice to question but also has the choice to arrest Ivan even though he didn’t commit the crime. I like when games give these types of choices to the player, allowing them to get stuff wrong. It adds more to the narrative that the player builds.
A small suggestion is playing around with the typography/color both in the game and itch page—it can help elevate your game’s experience to the player in terms of what they should feels. (Also the full screen button seems to not be working for whatever reason?)
same for the “full screen button”! You need to enable that button so as we could see the full text in webpage~
yeah if possible, I think you'd have to play around with the "viewport dimensions" option when you're editing the game, and see what works best.
Otherwise, I do like how this feels like a Visual Novel, with character portraits, various dialogue choices, and scene changes. I'd be interested to see if you ever expand upon this format in a later game, as the foundation is very solid right now
I like how you design the background of the itch page. And I am wondering what main theme you want to express by making this game. I also made a game about cop and I am curious about your answer.
This game properly feels like an interrogation with a LOT of great dialogue hinting at the true nature of the characters. I especially loved the detail of Ivan’s dialogue capitalizing the letters in “Officer”. While Mirror Masses Millenia went for a more poetic experience, generating different haikus with pixelated backgrounds, while this game went for a properly direct story regarding Police work and how people abuse their power.
The gameplay was really good and responsive. made it easy to navigate the dialogue options and especially when choosing what to say. You could finish the game really quickly or make a complete fool of yourself as a detective.
This is a detective, mystery genre, more of a straightforward text based game (I’ve never played Ace Attourney but it seems like it’s in the same ballpark). I think the subversive aspect of your fellow police officer being the murder was interesting but I didn’t fully pick up on that? I just went with the options that doubted the guy’s involvement and I was a bit confused at the end lol
I like that the dialogue choices change numbers each time. Instead of being the same numbers each time, they're all different. It makes it feel like our choices are being constricted based off what you decide to do. It makes me want to play again, to see what I missed. Great job!
The game tackles some really serious real-world topics. I especially like how WE are playing as a detective so we're under the impression that what we're doing is "good." I see themes of manipulated narratives also at play given Ivan's dialogue.
I like how you use mouse clicks as well as the keyboard to advance the plot—it almost echoes the (spoiler!) gunfire in the bad ending. Also, is there a code hidden in the suspect’s uppercase dialogue? I ran out of time before I could figure it out.
The font display is a cool creative choice that success in relaying a frantic emotional state. It left me wanting to ask a lot more questions!
the style is Interesting, though with this style, I think the use of sound will help a lot in the generation of different emotions. For example, adding a quick crazy giggle when prompted (an audio trigger almost). I think it was happening in the beginning with the talking of the police officers but it was hard to tell
I played the game once through and also got the good ending, but I was intrigued about what else the game had and played again. This time, I got the bad ending. I like how dark the scene is when you get into the interrogation room; it really adds to the creep factor, especially if you get the bad ending.
The graphics for this game are simple but really effective in conveying your story! I enjoyed the story line as well as the twist in the end, I got the good ending. I've been watching a bunch of NCIS recently so I felt like I was in the show for a second.
